Evaluation Process and Schedule

Evaluation/Tryout Process

If you are unfamiliar with the process, please read all the information

  • You must be registered and paid-in-full to attend evaluations/tryouts.
  • All evaluations will take place on the indoor turf at the SaskTel Sports Center (150 Nelson Road), unless otherwise stated.
  • Sign-in will take place in the North Lobby.  Please arrive to sign in half an hour before the scheduled tryout time.   If you do not sign-in on time, you risk an incomplete evaluation.
  • Any parent questions can be answered after sign-in once the group has been taken out onto the turf.
  • Each age division has a separate tryout time.

U7D and U9D - Developmental Age Groups

  • Evaluations are held strictly for the purpose of creating equal teams of equal skill level.  Therefore, attendance at evaluations is not necessary, but is an extremely valuable experience for when players move into U11.
  • Based on availability of fields and time, Aurora will do their best to hold a couple of practice sessions before teams are finalized and before the season starts. This allows any players who have missed evaluations to be placed on a team, ensuring teams are equally created.
  • All teams in these age-groups practice together. Practices are led by Aurora's Technical Director, Sean Riggs.

U11-U19

  • Evaluations/tryouts will be done in a 2-round format. This allows evaluators to fully evaluate the large number of players in these divisions.
  • After the initial tryout, selections will be made to reduce the number of athletes for the subsequent date.  Those athletes invited to the second evaluation process will be advised of the time.
  • Please note: Session two for U11-U19 are by invite only.   You will be contacted with the time if you have been invited to attend.
  • During evaluations/tryouts, players may participate in small group drills as well as an on-field scrimmage. Parents may observe the evaluations however, they should not interact with the players or evaluators in any way.
  • If a player is interested in goalkeeping, please notify staff at tryout check-in.
  • Aurora Soccer Club policy is that all players register and attend evaluations in their proper age group.

*Please Note*

  • Only athletes with a valid conflict reason will be allowed to miss the initial tryout or callback date. Please submit rationale by email to TD@aurorasoccer.ca if you are unable to attend, and the club will attempt to accommodate.
  • Any players missing evaluations will initially be placed in the lowest division for their age-group. They can request an on-field evaluation but will be required to attend games and practices at the lowest division until the evaluation can take place. If the player demonstrates a skill level that is significantly above the other players in that division, the player can discuss the possibility of moving to a higher division with the Aurora Technical Director.
  • Players who wish to play in Division 3 do not need to attend evaluations, however we request that you email TD@aurorasoccer.ca advise of your absence.
  • Players wishing to be considered for Division 2 or Premier (PSL) must attend evaluations.
  • Times for the second evaluation process will be communicated as soon as possible. An email will be sent to ALL athletes in the division advising the decision is complete and contact will be made. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Tryout Attire

  • Players are required to wear shin guards and soccer cleats.
  • Players are not to wear wristbands, watches, jewelry or piercings of any kind.
  • Please bring a water bottle.
