CLUB BACKGROUND

Aurora Soccer Club Inc. is the governing organization for youth soccer in Zone 3 under the administration of Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. (SYSI) which areas includes Arbor Creek, Brighton, Erindale, University Heights SC and Willowgrove, Sutherland, Forest Grove, City Park & City Park East. We are a Club of more than 600 members comprising of youth soccer players, parents, volunteer coaches, Club Staff and Board Members. The Club is looking for a Lead Coach who shall manage, provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to our technical coaching team. The Lead Coach will work closely and coordinate with the Club’s Technical Administrator who will provide logistical and administrative support for technical operations.

OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY

The ideal candidate will have a passion and enthusiasm for working with soccer players of all ages, staff, and volunteer coaches. The candidate will thrive in a community Club, recreational & high-performance soccer environment and demonstrate a passion for continuous program improvement and leadership. The candidate will perform his duties to align with the Club’s strategic goals. The candidate must work well in a team-environment and will inspire, delegate, and motivate others. As a key leader in the club, the candidate will be looked upon for professionalism, mindfulness, organization, and good communication.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Administration of Technical Programs.
    1. Develop indoor and outdoor curriculum that aligns with the Club’s Strategic Plan and Values.
    2. Work closely with technical administrator to maintain current files on players, coaches, and staff.
    3. Establish and implement technical staff requirements to support technical programs as approved by the Board
    4. Conduct performance reviews, track progress of Performance Metrics for staff and volunteer coaches.
    5. Provide monthly reports on programs progression, and coaches performance to be shared with Technical Administrator to report to the Board.
  1. Coach Recruitment and Development
    1. Design and administer an overall coach development program with the objective of developing various levels of coaching expertise to support all programs.
    2. Identify, recruit, and develop head coaches and assistant coaches to support all teams.
    3. Manage scheduling and conduct coach training sessions.
    4. Able to fill in head coaching position simultaneously if needed.
  1. Youth Player Development
    1. Develop programs to support the player development and training programs that align with CSA’s LTDP and Aurora Soccer Club’s Player Pathway. Program components are to include pre-season and in-season training for all players, and training camps.
    2. Run Club training sessions with head and staff coaches
    3. Develop and implement a player evaluation process that includes written assessments, feedback to players and parents, and recommendations for individual development.
    4. Supervise the tryout process, ensuring that Club policies are followed and that all players who participate are given an opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
  1. Other duties as assigned.
    1. Ad-hoc duties assigned by the Board through the Operations Committee/President.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to candidates that possess a B-trained or B-Diploma Certified.
  • Preference will be given to individuals with an appropriate sports-related degree, diploma and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and motivating qualified coaching personnel when required.
  • Ability to align annual operating plans to broader club strategic plan.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical planning to non-technical stakeholders, including parents.
  • Strong use of various software programs including but not limited to: MS Office, PowerPoint etc.
  • Valid Saskatchewan drivers’ license.
  • A Criminal Record Check (CRC) with vulnerable sector check.

This is a yearly contractual employment renewable with salary between $50,000 to $60,000 per year. Able to provide minimum 30 hours per week to perform his/her on field and administrative duties.
